WITNEY & DISTRICT YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2004/05
MATCH REPORTS FOR WEEKEND OF 11th/12th DECEMBER
U8 'East' League
Highfield Juniors 6 Chesterton Juniors 0
Highfield played Chesterton in what was a one-sided match. Goals from Jack Parker, Conner Tallis, Harry Trinder,
Luke Dyer and two from Ben Cooke, gave Highfield a resounding victory.
Deddington Colts 1 Bicester Town Colts 2
After good performances from these two sides last week, an exciting game was in prospect for the watching crowd.
The muddy conditions didn't deter what turned out to be a terrific game of football. Both goalies had little to
do in the opening minutes, each attacked being broken down by some stout defending. Bicester's breakthrough came
about midway through the first half. A Deddington clearance fell kindly to Matthew Jillians, and when his cross
picked out Ryan Kerwin at the far post he made no mistake to make it 1-0. As the half progressed, Bicester went
in search of more goals, Harrison Cassidy and Zack Miller combining well only to be thwarted by the Deddington
keeper. Deddington came back strongly though and scored a deserved equalizer, the best goal of the game. From a
throw in, Bicester failed to clear their lines and the Deddington player had plenty of time to pick his spot and
fire an unstoppable shot into the net.
The second half picked up where the first half left off, both teams looking to nick the winner. The hosts almost
went ahead but for Ryan Swyer, deputising in goal and saving spectacularly to put the ball out for a corner. Bicester
then had a good five minute spell when they snatched the points and scored the winner. Ben Holt, having another
good game in defence and Danny Keen, set up Ryan Kerwin with a lovely pass from Danny but the keeper brought down
Ryan. Penalty! But as the loose ball fell to Zack the ref waved play on and Zack thumped the ball into the net.
Jordan Poole then came on for Ryan Kerwin for the last few minutes and Bicester hung on to a hard fought victory.
Bicester's Man of The Match was Zack Miller.
Steeple Aston & Barton Juniors 0 Launton Boys 2
In an evenly matched game Launton came out on top with a goal in each half from Jamie Johnson
U8 'North' League
Kings Sutton 0 Adderbury Park 0
Both sides contributed to an exciting game at Kings Sutton's Astrop Road ground. Adderbury Park had the better
of the first half and spent much of the time in Kings Sutton's half, without quite managing to score. There was
a notable effort from Daniel McLean who let fly from outside the area and Kings Sutton's keeper did well to stop
the ball from entering the goal just under the bar. Park didn't have it all their own way and their keeper Daniel
D'Oyley had to be alert to some long range shots.
The second half saw Park increase the pressure on the Kings Sutton goal and again they came close to scoring, particularly
through Jack Wilkinson, who hit the post twice. In the end Park were a little disappointed with the 0-0 scoreline
but both sides can be pleased with the improvement they have shown since the first meeting earlier in the season."
U8 'West' League
Carterton Colts 0 Enstone Sports 1
In a thrilling match, Carterton Colts came within three minutes of their first league point. After withstanding
a lot of pressure and with Enstone missing chance after chance, it was a bitter blow to the home team when Daniel
Bott finally hit the target after racing onto a great through ball from his cousin Conor Bott. Enstone played some
good passing football, with Ryan Mason impressively taking the ball forward from defence. Carterton Colts played
with tenacity and spirit but also a good sporting attitude. A great match.
Tower Hill 5 Ducklington 1
A bright winter's day was ruined soon after kick-off for Ducklington as Josh Miles pounced on a loose ball on the
edge of the box and calmly fired home to put Tower into the lead. This setback galvanised them though, and they
tried to force their way back into the game, only to be denied by fierce tackling from the whole Tower Hill team.
After the break, Liam Readhead doubled Tower's lead with a fiercely struck shot after Dan Frost had hit a post,
and seconds later Connor Tinsley charged through Ducklington's defence and calmly finished to make it three nil.
After Ducklington pulled one back, Sam Mullenger restored Tower's three goal advantage, and Liam Readhead tied
up the points and the Man of the Match award with a sweetly struck volley. Still Ducklington didn't give up though,
and only a brilliant save from Matt Waite prevented them scoring again at the very end.
U9 Knock-Out Cup - 2nd Round
Banbury Town Youth Colts 2 Witney Vikings Youth 4
Banbury of the 'C' league gave a more than creditable performance against the 'A' league leaders, but found themselves
2-0 down by half time. Witney started the stronger and some fine saves by Kieran Dolphin in the Banbury goal kept
the scores level. Banbury were hitting Witney on the break and Joe Wetherill was unlucky on two occasions not to
give Banbury the lead
However half way through the first half Witney took the lead when a loose ball resulted from a low corner was prodded
home from close range, Witney continued to dominate and went 2-0 up with a fine diving header from another corner
just before half time - both goals were scored by Andrew Horne with Roger James taking the corners.
In the second half Banbury pressed hard to get back in the game, but again Witney proved stronger and increased
their lead with a Roger James goal. Banbury hit back to make it 3-1 with a low drive by Joe Wetherill. This exciting
game then became end to end with more chances for both teams. Witney secured their place in the next round with
Joel Spalding scoring his sixth goal in three games. Joe Wetherill added his second for Banbury in the final minutes.
Chesterton Juniors 1 Kidlington Youth Rangers 0 (at Kidlington Youth Rangers)
Chesterton conceded home advantage with no pitch available at their own ground. Chesterton created many chances
that they failed to convert. The winner came from Ben Dawe in the first half. Kidlington battled and defended well.
Chesterton man of the match was Chris Mansfield.
Banbury Rangers 2 Launton Boys 2 (after extra time - Launton won 3-2 on penalties)
'D' league side Banbury met 'A' league Launton in the second round of the cup. Banbury were by no means outplayed
by Launton and took an early lead through captain Connor Gowan's cross come shot which evaded the Launton keeper.
Banbury kept the pressure on and matched Launton Ball for ball. Launton showed why they are an 'A' league team
and equalised after some fine attacking moves and a mistake by the Banbury keeper.
In the second half the game was played at entertaining pace with end to end goalmouth action.
Banbury striker Jordan Clayton went on a mazy run and was pulled down just outside the box which led to Banbury's
second goal when Connor Gowan fired in the free kick with his trusty right boot into the left hand side of the
net. This shook Launton and to their credit never sat back and attacked Banbury from the kick off they equalised
with minutes to go to make it 2-2.
The game went into extra time which was played at the same pace with frantic moments at both ends of the pitch
but no-one scored. Penalty shoot out was the final verdict in an entertaining game which led to the excitement
finish. Launton won the shoot out 3-2, with Connor Gowan and Jordan Clayton scoring for Banbury, and Danny Clark
scoring the decider for Launton.
Banbury Town Youth Minors 2 Great Tew 1
The Knock Out Cup saw the Minors return to winning ways in an excellent encounter with Great Tew. Daniel Bartlett
scored early in the first half to give Banbury the lead. Banbury went on to create some good chances to extend
their lead but the Tew goal keeper stood firm.
Great Tew started the second half the stronger and levelled through Joseph Holland. Banbury got the winning goal
half way through the second half when Connor Byrnes finished off a fine passing move.
Ducklington 1 Deddington Colts 0
This was a well fought match from the start but Ducklington dominated most of the game with more chances and shots
at goal. However, with the scoreline 0-0 at half-time and continuing for the first ten minutes of the second half,
it looked as though extra time was going to be played. Then a free kick gave Ducklington a chance in the dying
minutes. A metre in from the half-way line and Thomas Costley stepped up to take the shot. True to past form, he
found the back of the net over the keeper's head and with the whistle blowing three minutes later, ensured the
home team's continuance to the third round.
Kidlington Youth 0 Tower Hill 6
Tower Hill comfortably beat Kidlington Youth in this cup fixture 6-0. The score could of been higher but Hill were
thwarted by Kidlington's keeper who made some superb saves. The game was played in excellent spirit by both sides
also saying they had enjoyed themselves. Goals came from Luke Bolley (2), Jamie Harris (2), Daniel Bullock and
man of the match Kane Lewis.
U10 'A' League
Carterton 2 Chipping Norton Town Swifts 2
Carterton played Chippy Norton in a very physical game with both team needing to win. Chippy took the lead against
the run of play, but within two minutes Carterton got their goal. Aaron Robins played Matthew Lee through to shoot
straight at the goal for the keeper to save for Oliver Hawkins to finished off the rebound.
Second half and Carterton took the lead for the first time of the game from Aaron Robins. Chippy started to push
Carterton back into their own half to get the goal they needed and all paid off for the draw.
Launton Boys 3 Bicester Town Colts 0
A well deserved win from Launton who controlled the game with ease. From the whistle they created chances and made
three corners on the trot making Bicester Town work hard with some fine goalkeeping from Bicester's R Walker. Launton
battled and eventually found a way through with Ryan Callow slotting home to make it 1-0 Shortly after Bicester
created a chance and Launton Goalkeeper Sam Faria made a fine save.
In the second half Launton were rarely threatened and pushed forward again with more fine flowing football down
the left, Ryan Callow played a fine cross into the box for Jack Pease to make it 2-0. This had Bicester defending
in numbers and goal number three was well worth waiting for after some fine 1-2 football from Christopher Nourse
and Jack Pease laying on to Ryan Callow to set a perfect goal for Carl Thomas to fire home from long range to leave
the final score at 3-0. Launton man of the match went to Jack Pease.
Banbury Town Youth 2 North Leigh 1
North Leigh lost their first game of the season in this hard fought game with Banbury Town. From the start Banbury
used their strength to dominate the midfield which duly caused problems for North Leigh early on, but with the
outstanding Jon Dawe at the heart of North defence goal scoring opportunities were limited. Mid-way through the
first half North started to get their passing game together, after one such move they opened the scoring through
a tidy finish from Dominic Dyce. Banbury fought back immediately, with the impressive Karl Woodcock dictating things
in midfield, a loose ball on the edge of North's box was superbly struck into the bottom corner of the net for
the equaliser. Banbury continued to press an were rightly awarded a penalty after a foul inside the box, Karl Woodcock
struck the penalty kick well but Sam Oliver in the North Leigh goal made an excellent save to keep his team in
it. However, Banbury were not to be denied when their striker finished well from close range after being found
unmarked inside the box.
Early into the second half Karl Woodcock burst through and hit a great shot against the inside of the post, the
ball then ran agonisingly along the goal line only to be cleared to safety. North came back strongly and caused
problems for the Banbury defence, Tom Weedon nearly snatched an equaliser when a smart lob landed on the roof of
the net. The game continue to be played with a passion by both sides until the final whistle and Banbury held out
to deservedly claim victory.
The result leaves the title race wide open at the half way stage, with the top five all in with a good chance winning
it.
U10 'B' League
Carterton Colts 9 Enstone Sports 1
Hat tricks from Jamie Austin and Dominic Hyam helped Carterton Colts to a convincing 9-1 victory over Enstone.
Also on target for Carterton was; Patrice Guillois, Ryan Southwood and Dave Nawborynsky.
U10 'C' League
Banbury Rangers 1 Middleton Cheney 2
A close game between the two local teams proved to be a thriller played at a good pace. Banbury had a few chances
with Striker Tom Glossop going close on a few occasions, but was frustrated by the Middleton keeper Bret Margieson.
Just before half time Middleton had a free kick awarded to them on the edge of the Banbury penalty area and the
score was 1-0 to the visitors at half time.
Banbury came out fighting in the second half with Josh Kerby in the Banbury defence putting in several long range
shots to test the Middleton keeper. Connie McMillan was a terrier in defence and kept most of the Middleton attacks
at bay. Tom Glossop finally got the goal he deserved and made the score 1-1. Five minutes later Middleton got the
breakthrough they had been looking for and made the final score 2-1 to them. Special mention must be made to Robbie
Dwyer in goal for Banbury who made some outstanding saves.
U11 'A' League
Garden City 0 Banbury Town Youth 8
Good start made by both sides, but it was Banbury who opened the scoring through Luke Gardner, quickly followed
up by Jack Noone to Make it 2-0, both goals in first five minutes. The game then settled down with both keeper's
called into action, five minutes before half time, Brad Smith pick up the ball inside the Garden City end on the
far right and cut inside and ran through one on one towards the advancing keeper cheekily lobbing the ball into
the net.
The second half was much as the first half with Banbury on top, but it was fifteen minutes in, before Banbury found
the net again Luke Gardner grabbing his second, Banbury's fourth. Brad Smith then put the game beyond Garden City
with his second goal. Luke followed that with a tap in on the line for his hat trick. Two late goals underlined
a good win for Banbury one from Full back Christian Seeney, and the final goal from Midfielder Nathan Taylor, both
right footed low drives. Garden City put in a good performance all round but just found Banbury too strong. Banbury
man of the match was Luke Gardner.
Easington Sports 1 Tower Hill 1
The opening minutes were very evenly contested in midfield until Tower put a good passing move together down the
right for Ryan Moore to cross into the box and Adam Bolley just beat the keeper to the ball to make it 1-0 in the
tenth minute. Tower continued to push forward but
were unable to add to their lead with the Easington defence and goalkeeper making some good blocks.
The second half started much the same as the first with no team testing the keepers. Midway through the half the
Tower keeper dropped a cross at the feet of an Easington forward who tapped in from two yards. With Tower pouring
forward the last ten minutes were played entirely in the Easington half. Adam Bolley made a great run into the
box only to be brought down and with every one expecting a penalty to be given the referee waved play on. Still
Tower were creating chances and Eddie Stevens had a left foot effort well saved by the Easington keeper final score
1-1.
U11 'B' League
Deddington Colts 2 Hook Norton 1
This was a great game of football. Both teams worked hard and at times played some smashing football. The first
half really went to Colts who for much of the period pinned Hook Norton into their half. Colts had several good
chances to take the lead before a cracking shot from Mark Cook went high into the Hook Norton goal.
In the second half, however, Hook Norton fought back hard. Liam Barnes who shot from within the Colts' penalty
area rewarded them some 15 minutes later with a well worked goal. After that it was end to end, and both teams
probably could have nicked it. As it was, five minutes from time a superb effort from Colts Ben Ackland-Snow rebounded
off the post and he was able to cross the rebound to Chris Pridmore who did an audacious back flick which saw the
ball into the Hook Norton net. Such was the overall team performance that no one player was singled out for Colts
as Player of the Match. After last week's drubbing by Kings Sutton, this was a gritty performance and great response
from the Colts players.
Bloxham 3 Moretonville Junior 3
Wow what a game!! Well done to both sides.
Moretonville took the lead in the first half. Having given away the penalty Jon Cooper made a great save from Jack
Doran's well hit spot kick (his second penalty save of the season) but was then unlucky when George Humphries reacted
quickest to the loose ball in the box and scored.
In the second half Moretonville doubled their lead. After a shot hit the post, a scramble followed and with Bloxham
slow in clearing the ball Callum Heath put the ball in the net. Worse was to follow for the home team when a freekick
in the area was given against Jon Cooper for picking up a back pass. The freekick was knocked short to Jack Doran
who made up for his penalty by firing the ball into the net. The league leaders then showed great character to
pull themselves back into the game. Straight from the kick off Jay Wills played the ball through to David Matthews
and his shot hit the roof of the net. Within minutes Charlie Hill picked up a pass from Matt Foley and then ran
through the middle before shooting past the keeper. The equaliser was again made by Jay Wills. He hit a pass over
the top, and David Matthews timed his run well and ran on to score his second of the game.
Chasewell Park 4 Langford KEA 1
Chasewell Park continued their good form this season with a 4-1 win against Langford. Both sides had chances
early on but did not take them when on 17 minutes Joe Kirkpatrick opened the scoring with a well taken goal. James
Collins soon after made it 2-0.
Chasewell seemed to up their game in the second half as James Collins made it 3-0. Langford did cause Chasewell
problems but some good defending and goalkeeping kept them at bay. Luke Hartwell made it 4-0 but Langford replied
with a great strike 5 minutes from time.
U11 'C' League
Yarnton Boys 2 Carterton Barracudas 4
Two goals by Michael Macnamee were not enough for Yarnton as they went down 4-2 at home to Carterton Barracudas.
Barracudas' goals were a brace each from Charlie Nelson and Dan Delahaye.
Marsh Gibbon 4 Ducklington 2
Marsh Gibbon won the top of the table clash to leap frog Ducklington into top spot and maintain their unbeaten
record with leading scorer George Newman netting all four goals in a deserved win.
The home side went straight on the attack from the start with both Toby Chilman and George Newman giving the Ducklington
defence a torrid time. It was no surprise when the home side went ahead with an excellent strike from Newman after
eight minutes. The striker then forced a good save from the visiting 'keeper with Chilman hitting a post with the
follow up. Marsh extended their lead on 15 minutes when Newman again found a way through the visitors defence and
although the 'keeper parried, he couldn't stop the ball going into the net. This galvanised the visitors who then
had a good spell of pressure. Matthew Smith in the Marsh goal had already pulled off a couple of good saves but
right on half time could only parry a very firm shot which allowed Keiran McPherson to net the rebound from close
range to make it 2-1.
The second half started pretty even with both teams looking dangerous in attack. Halfway through though Ducklington
got their equaliser when Joe Lezurs near post corner eluded the Marsh defence to go straight in. The home side
came storming back though and within five minutes had regained the lead when George Newman got his hat trick with
a lob from the edge of the box that was in as soon as it left his foot. Marsh had to re-arrange their defence due
to an injury to Nathaniel Edwards but went on to score again through Newman as this time he cut in from the right
wing after another good piece of team play to score from an acute angle to make it 4-2. Ducklington never gave
up though and Marsh had to defend resolutely for the last ten minutes to secure an excellent win from another excellent
team performance.
Middleton Cheney 2 Chesterton Juniors 3
Chesterton Juniors picked up their second win of the season away to Middleton Cheney. Cheney started the better
and dominated for the first ten minutes but Chesterton fought their way back into the game and after being caught
offside many times Juniors finally broke the off side trap and that allowed Kevin Earl to finish neatly and leave
the score 1-0 at half time.
Cheney showed good spirit and equalised early in the second half but Chesterton regained the lead shortly after
when Matt Salmon saw his drive end up in the top corner after some good work from Kevin Earl. Cheney again replied
and the game could have swung either way but the game was decided when Kevin Earl grabbed his second of the game
and 11th of the season from the penalty spot. Juniors could have had more with Curtis Sneddon seeing two outstanding
shots hitting the post and bar. Chesterton have been waiting a long time for this sort of performance and all the
players can be very pleased with their performance. The man of the match award went to Luke Durkin who was outstanding
in defence for Chesterton.
Kingham Juniors 1 Grendon Rangers 2
Kingham played there last game of this year against a team that they had never met before Grendon Rangers. Grendon
knew that they would have to work hard against Kingham after their big win last week. Kingham however never really
got out the starting blocks in the first half and it was no surprise when Grendon took the lead when A Samers netted
for them.
The second half Kingham looked better but Grendon had got there nose in front and weren't going to give in that
easy and were soon rewarded for there efforts when Samers netted his second. Kingham did get back in the game and
spent all most the rest of the game camped out in the Grendon half and Josh Warner pulled one back for the home
side with his first goal this season. Despite Kingham having their best spell of the game in the last ten minutes
they could not find their way through a very inform keeper and the game ended 2-1 to Rangers.
After agreeing that it was a good game and well refereed both managers chose a Man of the match from the opposite
team and they were presented with a Christmas selection box. Grendon man of the match was their number one 'keeper
C Kendrick and Kingham's 'player' of the match was Grace Williams.
U12 'A' League
Easington Sports 1 Witney Vikings Youth 1
On a boggy pitch both teams fought well in a very even and sporting match. After early exchanges Easington pounced
on a defensive error to take a half time 1-0 lead.
From the restart the Vikings stepped up a gear and following a free kick by Phil Tierney which struck the woodwork
and a shot hitting the bar were rewarded for their efforts with a goal scored by Phil Tierney direct from a corner
kick in the 40th minute. Chances followed at either end but the honours remained even in what was a fair result.
Steeple Aston & Barton Juniors 0 Eynsham Youth 4
Steeple Aston & Barton Juniors put up a brave fight with a depleted team at Eynsham. Missing four regular first
team players Steeple opened the stronger with Owen Hunt and Oz Miller both going close. Eynsham gradually came
into the game but Steeple's defence with Stuart Ferguson and Ollie Ward in fine form held firm until just before
half time when Eynsham opened the scoring.
In the second half Eynsham added to their lead early on but Steeple still created chances to get back into the
game with the best opportunity once again falling to Owen Hunt who found himself with just the keeper to beat but
was unable to finish. With Jack Stevens working tirelessly in midfield it was a little unjust when Eynsham added
two more goals to make the final score 4-0. Special mention to stand in goalkeeper Charlie Lambriano who had a
very good game.
Combe 1 Brackley Town 3
Brackley Town took all three points when they visited third place Combe to maintain their position at the top of
the 'A' league. Brackley played the ball around well but their usual clinical finishing deserted them. On the ten
minute mark Combe were awarded a penalty against the run of play which they put away to take the lead. Brackley,
not used to finding themselves behind, piled the pressure on the Combe goal in an effort to draw level. Harrison
Foster coming close with a free kick and Maxi Earle and Jordan Sole also coming close. However, after 22 minutes,
Brackley won a free-kick on the right hand side which was taken by Harrison Foster. Man of the match Lawson D'ath
lost his markers to head home for the equaliser.
The second half saw Brackley go in search of the second goal with defenders Jake Orwa and Joel Berry releasing
the forwards at every opportunity. After twelve minutes, Josh Parry's through ball from midfield split the defence
to find Harrison Foster who calmly slotted the ball into the net. Brackley made a few substitutions and reorganised
themselves. New signing Ryan Markham making an immediate impact on the game to combine well with Lawson D'ath on
the left wing. Brackley's third was scored with about eight minutes remaining when Lawson D'ath started and finished
a move from midfield to score the goal of the game, cutting in to beat two defenders and hammer the ball home.
Brackley should have added a couple more, but some tenacious defending, missed chances and the goal post kept the
score at 3-1.
U12 'B' League
Bloxham Boys 2 Chipping Norton Town Swifts 5
In the top of the table clash, Chipping Norton Town Swifts came out top in this entertaining game. Chippy took
an early lead through Ollie Brotherston and this was soon doubled by Gareth Price. Bloxham however were far from
buried and it was only due to some superb keeping from Swifts number 1 Lewis Kemp that kept them at bay. Price
scored his second shortly before the break to send Chippy in 3-0 up at half-time.
The second half saw Bloxham come out fighting and their play was rewarded with a goal but this was soon cancelled
out when Swift's Adam Wallington headed home after his initial shot was blocked by the keeper. Bloxham were awarded
a penalty which the superb Kemp saved, only for the rebound to be netted. With only five minutes left, Brotherston
took the match completely beyond Bloxham's reach with a superb individual goal, to put Chippy joint top of the
B League.
U12 'C' League
Grendon Rangers 4 Marsh Gibbon 2
In a well contested local derby both teams played well controlled and committed football, with no player given
any time on the ball. Marsh eventually broke the deadlock when a slick pass from midfield bet the offside trap
and Barney riley raced on to the ball to score. Two minutes later Marsh made it two nil when Gareth Bayliss scored
from six yards. Grendon kept pressurizing the Marsh goal and eventually gained their reward when Harry Dalton beta
the keeper in the 14th minute. Another neat move down the left once again found Dalton in the clear to make it
two all. Two minutes later Jacob Wilson beat the offside trap and beat the Marsh keeper to make it three two. A
minute later a great run from Harry Dalton left him one on one with the keeper who came out well and nearly got
the ball, but Dalton had sent the ball on its way to goal and Alex Patterson knocked it in to make sure it crossed
the line.
In the second half both teams came out firing on all cylinders creating chances at either end. Several great saves
form the Grendon Keeper George Taylor ensured Grendon retained their lead. Despite pressure at the other end, Grendon
could not break down the Marsh defence who played an excellently marshalled offside trap.
an excellently marshalled offside trap.
Highfield Bocca Juniors 2 Langford KEA 12
Langford got off to a great start with Tom Young scoring the first of many goals inside the first minute. Dave
Aslett got the second as Langford opened up Highfield's defence at will. Langford produced some great attacking
football with Ryan Wickens, Edward Coulling, Cameron Mcpherson and Luke Whistler totalling controlling the midfield.
Ryan Wickens got on the score sheet with the first of impressive goals picking the ball up after good work from
Tom Young to take it around two players playing it through to Dave Aslett who slid the ball to Wickens who skipped
around the keeper and hit the ball into the bottom right hand corner that was the cue for Wickens to dominate the
game with some great passes setting up countless chances.
In the second half Langford started to pass the ball about with ease turning defence into attack at will, Luke
Whistler who was very impressive down the left hand side in midfield made some excellent runs sometimes gliding
pass two or three players at a time. The best of the goals came from Edward Coulling with a stunning strike from
outside the 18 yard box curling it into the top right hand corner, Cam Mcpherson got two great goals which were
well deservered and Luke Whistler scored from the penalty spot after Wickens was brought down it was a goal that
was well deserve red because of a disciplined and near faultless season so far for Whistler. Tom Smith got the
last of a very impressive performance from Langford.
U13 'A' League
Launton Boys 1 Chesterton Juniors 4
In this very competitive game Chesterton edged out Launton with very solid team performance.
It wasn't long before Chesterton took the lead after Darren Booker played in Ben Dyer who dinked a ball through
to Frank Harrison who calmly rounded the keeper and tucked the ball home. Chesterton had to be at their best as
Launton always looked capable of scoring and only minutes after Launton had levelled the score when former Chesterton
player Ryan Yearwood nipped into punish his old team-mates. The scores stayed level until half-time, then Chesterton
changed formation pushing two up front and it changed the game.
Within minutes of the restart Dan Savin scored with a cracking right foot drive which went in off the post. Then
moments later Savin was fouled in the penalty area and a penalty was awarded, Jack Harding took the penalty only
to see the Launton keeper Sam White make a cracking save to deny him. Callum Cooper then supplied the pass for
Savin to claim his second, which was a carbon copy of his first again going in off the post. Neil Davies then came
on for Harding and started very brightly down the left hand side of midfield and he set up a pass for Kier Mcbean
who unleashed a cracking right foot drive only to see the ball tipped over by Launton's keeper White. Chesterton
still had to be on their toes and they had to thank keeper Josh O'Neil and central defensive pairing of Krissy
Matthews and Ashley Prentice on numerous occasions for thwarting the Launton attackers. With ten minutes to go
former Launton player Mitchell Hill pounced on a loose ball just outside the Launton penalty area he took the ball
two paces and unleashed a cannon ball that only stopped when it hit the back off the net!! This was an excellent
team performance lads keep up the hard work.
Hook Norton 2 Evenlode Rangers 5
Hook Norton Rangers were second-best in their competitive encounter with Evenlode Rangers, going down 5-2 with
Norton's goals coming from Aaron Witham and Jack Radcliffe.

Eynsham Youth 5 Banbury Sports Youth 3
In this C Division clash second from bottom Eynsham faced a stiff challenge against third in the league Banbury
Sports. Eynsham had been without a match for three weeks but had faired well against 'A' division Oxford and Witney
teams in the cups in previous weeks.
The match started with Eynsham having the run of the play when after 14 minutes Cory Giles hit one from the edge
of the box that found the back of the net. He added his second from a coolly taken penalty after 22 minutes. Eddie
Wiatrzyk added the Eynsham third from a nicely weighted free kick taken by David Long.
The second half started with Banbury Sports looking much the better side and kept threatening to score. There hard
work was rewarded ten minutes into the half. Banbury still looked the stronger side and added a second 16 minutes
in. Eynsham struggled to keep possession but Cory Giles side footed past the keeper to make it 4-2. Banbury showed
fight and courage and some excellent defending and pulled the score back to 4-3 towards the end of the half. In
time added on a Banbury defensive error gifted Cory Giles his fourth. Banbury Sports scorers were J Glazier, C
Davies and J Ellis. An even, well played match with Eynsham winning the first half and Banbury winning the second.
U14 Knock-Out Cup - 2nd Round

were first on the trial with a Stephen Burke goal. Brody Chequer equalised for Sutton. Then two from Sam Hatton
and a single for Danny Black sealed it for Duck.
Carterton 4 Deddington Colts 2
Colts put in a greatly improved performance against a Carterton team which had beaten them 7-1 earlier in the season.
The match was played in excellent spirit throughout with Carterton deservedly edging both halves 2-1. They were
2-0 up, thanks to an own goal and then a superb strike from outside the area, but Colts fought their way back into
the game when Michael Schneider forced home a corner.
The second half saw Carterton again the more dangerous side, but they didn't score again until into the last quarter,
when they picked up two quick goals to put the result beyond doubt. Even so, colts were able to make a match of
it when Tom Gallant finished off a chance made by Grant Gulliver. They almost pulled another back which would have
made for an interesting last few minutes, but Carterton were safely into the third round. Once again, an excellent
team performance from Colts leading to a whole team Man of the Match award.
Tower Hill 6 Kingston Colts 1
Tower Hill won 6-1 with goals scored by Lewis Dewe (2), Adam Maskery (2) and Toby Morgan. The other was a own goal
as Nikitas shot hit the bar and went in off the keeper. Both sides battled well but Tower Hill were the strongest
at the end of the day.
Bardwell 3 Highfield Juniors 5
Highfield made hard work of a fixture that they dominated and eventually ran out 5-3 winners. In the first half,
Bardwell hardly got out of their half but still led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of a penalty converted by Lewis Clack
awarded for a pull back just before the break. Preceding that, Highfield had at least thirteen attempts on goal
but just couldn't find the back of the net. As early as the third minute they had their first chance as Michael
Philpott cleverly turned his marker and shot fiercely but his effort was just saved at the foot of the near post.
With some neat and quick football, especially down the right hand side early on between Liam Townsend and Adam
Mortiboys, Highfield threatened to overrun Bardwell but the goals just wouldn't come.
However, after the break, stung by falling behind after having so much of the play, Highfield eventually turned
it around. Just two minutes into the half, Jason Wilkinson was onhand to turn the ball into the net and equalise
after a Philpott shot could only be parried by the keeper. Four minutes later Highfield took the lead, again through
Wilkinson, as he headed in a Dan Dyer cross to make it 2-1 and after a quarter of an hour of the half, Wikinson
completed his hat-trick converting a Townsend cross to make the score 3-1. Two minutes later, Mortiboys seemingly
made it safe after a good move between Ollie Adams and Dyer put him through to score the fourth. Indeed, when Mortiboys
made it 5-1 with only six minutes remaining the match seemed over as a contest. However, to their credit, Bardwell
didn't give up and with two quick goals in two minutes by Clack, Highfield were for once on the backfoot but it
was all too little too late. Highfield's man of the match was hat-trick hero Jason Wilkinson.
